Donations
1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2 Therefore when you give alms, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised of men, do not do it. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3 But when you give alms, whatever you give with your right hand, your left hand will not know.
4 Let thy gift be in secret: that thy Father which seeth in secret may reward thee openly.
Prayer
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But when you pray, go into your room, and shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
7 When you pray, do not be like the Gentiles, for they think that we will be heard if we speak too much.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 This is how you pray,
O our Father who is in heaven,
Let your name be sanctified,
10 Thy kingdom come,
May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 And forgive us our trespasses,
As we have forgiven our sinners,
13 And we were not tempted,
But avoid evil. Because nature, glory and kingdom are always yours. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Fasting
16 When you fast, do not make a sad face like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so that people may know that they are fasting. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face.
18 Let it be known to you, not to men, but to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Wealth in heaven
19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal.
20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break through and steal.
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Body lamp
22 The lamp of the body is the eye: if your eye be pure, your whole body will be full of light.
23 But if there is evil in your eyes, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light inside you is darkness, how much more will that darkness be?
God and wealth
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
25 Wherefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Isn't life more important than food and body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds of the sky! They neither sow nor reap nor gather together in bundles! But your heavenly Father cares for them. Aren't you better than them?
27 Which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his age?
28 And why worry about clothes? See how wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin.
29 But I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 God so clothe the grass of the field, which is to-day and to-morrow to be cast into the fire; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 So don't worry about what we will eat. Or what shall we drink? Or what to wear?
32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things: but fear not: for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today's sorrow is enough for today.
