Hope for the future
1 Woe to the shepherds who slaughter my sheep and scatter them, says Yahweh!
2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel; I am against the shepherds that feed my people. You scattered my flock and drove them out and ignored them. Behold, I will bring evil upon you, saith the LORD
3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of the countries whither I have driven them out. I will bring them back into their fold, and they will bear fruit
4 I will raise shepherds over them who will feed them. They will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any of them be lost, says the Lord.
5 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise up unto David a righteous branch. He will rule as king and will be wise and will do justice and righteousness in the land
6 In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell in safety, and his name will be called, “Jehovah is our righteousness.”
7 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD hath brought forth the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
8 But the oath of the LORD, which he brought forth, and brought forth the house of Israel out of the north country, and out of all the countries whither he had given them the right. Then they will live in their own land.
Jeremiah's Message to the Prophets
9 My heart is broken within me for the prophets, all my bones tremble: I am become like a drunken man, like a man over whom I prevailed, because of the Lord and his holy words.
10 For the land is full of adulterers, the earth mourns because of the curse, and the pastures of the wilderness have dried up. Their way is bad, their fear is not good,
11 For the prophets and the priests are corrupt, and in their house I have found their iniquity, saith the LORD.
12 Therefore their way shall be to them as slippery places in the dark, where they shall stumble and fall: for I will bring evil upon them, saith the LORD in the year of their judgment.
13 I saw foolishness among the prophets of Samaria, and they prophesied through Baal, and led my people Israel astray.
14 But I saw a terrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem. They commit adultery and walk with treachery. They strengthen the hands of the wicked, so no man turns away from his evil. They have all become like Sodom to me, and its inhabitants like Amurah.
15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets, Behold, I will feed them serpents, and make them drink water of venom; for the prophets of Jerusalem have polluted the whole earth.
16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Hearken not unto the words of the prophets which prophesy unto you. They tell in vain, they tell the vision of their heart, but they do not speak from the mouth of the Lord
17 They say unto them that blaspheme, Behold, the LORD hath said, Peace shall be unto you; and to all that walk in the integrity of their heart they shall say, Evil shall not come upon you.
18 Who stood in the company of the Lord, to see and hear his word? Or who listened to his word?
19 Look at the Lord's storm! His anger has gone out, yes, a whirlwind storm that will blow over the heads of the wicked!
20 The wrath of the LORD shall not return, until he have established the righteousness of his heart. In the last days you will understand this clearly.
21 I did not send these prophets, yet they run. I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesy.
22 But if they had stood in my company, they would have told my people my words, and they would have turned them away from their evil ways, from their evil deeds.
23 Am I a God near, and not far off? Says the Lord
24 Shall a man hide himself in a veil that I may not see him? Says the Lord. Are not the heavens and the earth filled with me? Says the Lord
25 I have heard what the prophets said. They prophesy in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed!
26 How long will these false prophecies be in the hearts of the prophets to prophesy in their own hearts?
27 For they think that they shall forget my name with their dreams, and that every man shall tell his neighbor, as their fathers have forgotten my name because of Baal.
28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word honestly. What does straw have to do with wheat? Says the Lord
29 Is not my word like fire? The word of the LORD, and as the word of the LORD that breaketh the rock?
30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, who steal my words from one another.
31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, who use their tongues, and say, The word of the LORD.
32 Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams, says Yahweh, who tell them, and lead my people astray with their lies and their boasting. But I did not send them, nor did I command them, nor do they benefit the people, says the Lord.
The Word of God
33 When you ask these people or prophets or priests what is the weight of the Lord? Then you tell them, you are their burden! I'll throw you out! Says the Lord
34 The prophet, the priest, and the people who say, “The burden of Jehovah,” I will punish him and his family.
35 And say to each one of you, and to your brother, What is the answer of the Lord? And what has Jehovah said?
36 You will no longer remember the weight of the Lord, for the weight of the Lord is for every man. You have perverted the word of our God, the God of living armies
37 And thou shalt say unto the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? And what is Jehovah's word?
38 But if you say, "The burden of the Lord," the Lord says so, because you say, "The burden of the Lord," and I tell you not to say, "The burden of the Lord."
39 Behold, I will surely take you away, and will turn you away from this city which I have given you and your fathers.
40 And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and an everlasting shame upon you, which shall never be forgotten.

26 भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के दिलों में ये झूठी भविष्यवाणियाँ कब तक अपने दिल में बैठी रहेंगी?
27 क्योंकि वे सोचते हैं कि वे अपने सपनों के साथ मेरा नाम भूल जाएंगे, और हर एक आदमी अपने पड़ोसी को बताएगा, क्योंकि उनके पिता बाल के कारण मेरा नाम भूल गए हैं।
28 जो नबी एक सपने को देखता है, वह उसे एक सपना सुनाए; गेहूं के साथ पुआल का क्या करना है? प्रभु कहते हैं
