To be sent to Paul and Barnabas
1 There were many prophets and teachers in the church at Antioch, such as Barnabas, Simon, also called Niger, Lucius, a man of Cyrene, Manaen, who was raised with King Herod, and Saul.
2 While they were fasting and worshiping the Lord, the Holy Spirit said, "Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work for which I have called them."
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
Paul's first evangelistic journey
4 And they were sent by the Holy Spirit to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.
5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and John his servant was with them.
6 And when they had gone through the isle to Paphos, they found a man named Bereas, a sorcerer, a false prophet, and a Jew of the people.
7 He was accompanied by Governor Sergius Paulus, a wise man. He invited Barnabas and Saul to listen to God's Word.
8 The sorcerer (because this is the meaning of his name) tried to dissuade the governor from believing.
9 But Saul, who is also called Paul, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he
10 And said, Thou art full of all deceit and evil, thou son of the devil, and an enemy of all religions. Will you not turn away from the straight path of the Lord?
11 Now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, and shalt not see the sun for a season. And in the same way fog and darkness covered him. So he turned around and grabbed someone by the hand and took me away.

13 Then Paul and his companions sailed away from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departed from them, and went back to Jerusalem.
14 But passing through Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and sat down in the synagogue on the Sabbath.
15 And after reading the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.
16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Hear, O Israel; and fear God.
17 The God of the nation of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they were strangers in the land of Egypt, and brought them out by his own power.
18 And for forty years they endured in the wilderness.
19 And he destroyed the seven nations in the land of Canaan, and made their land an inheritance for about four hundred and fifty years.
20 And after that he judged Samuel the prophet.
21 Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul son of Kish from the tribe of Benjamin for forty years.
22 And when he had removed him, he set up David to be king over them: and he testified, saying, I have found David a son of Jesse, a man of my heart, that will do my will.
23 God sent Jesus, the Savior of his seed, to Israel as promised.
24 Before his coming John preached the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
25 And as John was finishing his course, he said, "What do you think of me?" I am not that, but behold, there cometh one after me, whose feet I am not worthy to loose.
26 And we, brethren, have the word of salvation sent unto you, brethren, unto the children of Abraham, and to them that fear him.
27 For the inhabitants of Jerusalem and their rulers, having not understood him, and the words of the prophets, which are read every sabbath day, accusing him, and having fulfilled these things.
28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.
29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulcher.
30 But God raised him from the dead.
31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses unto the people.
32 We preach to you the gospel which was preached to our fathers.
33 That God hath raised up Jesus, and hath fulfilled his word unto our seed, even as it is written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
34 For he hath raised him from the dead, that he should not burn: and he said, I will give you the holy and eternal blessing of David.
35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
36 And it came to pass, when David had made an end of serving his people, that David fell asleep, and was buried, and was buried with his fathers.
37 But the one whom God raised from the dead did not rot.
38 Know therefore, brethren, that through him ye are forgiven.
39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
40 Take heed therefore that the word of the prophets be not fulfilled in you
41 Behold, you who know nothing, be astonished and perish! For I do one thing in your days, a work that no one will tell you, but you will believe.
42 And as they went forth, they besought him that he would tell them these things the next sabbath day.
43 And when the assembly was ended, many followed him, both Jews and Greeks, and Paul and Barnabas. He talked to them and told them to stay in God's grace.
Paul's Preaching to the Gentiles
44 And the next sabbath day almost all the city came together to hear the word of God.
45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with wrath, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said, “It is necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you, but because you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.
47 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I have made thee a light for the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be a salvation unto the ends of the earth.
48 And when the Gentiles heard these things, they were glad, and glorified the word of God: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.
50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honorable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.
51 But they shook off the dust of their feet before them, and came to Iconium.
52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
