John the Baptist's Proclamation
1 Beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God:
Mark 1: 1
2 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, I will send my angel before you, and he will prepare the way for you.

3 “In the wilderness a man cries out, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make his paths straight.'”
Mark 1: 3
4 John the Baptist came and baptized in the wilderness. He taught them to be baptized to show that they had changed their lives. In this way, their sins can be forgiven.

5 All the people of Judea and Jerusalem came to him and told him about their sins. Then John baptized them in the Jordan River.

6 And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a leathern girdle about his loins. He ate locusts and wild honey.

7 And he preached among the people, saying, This man is come after me, and is greater than I: and I am not worthy to undo his shoes.

8 I baptized you with water: but he that cometh will baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

9 At that time Jesus came to John from the city of Nazareth in Galilee, and John baptized him in the Jordan River.

10 As Jesus came up out of the water, he saw the heavens parting, and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.

11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. I am very happy with you. ”
