Warning against prejudice
1 My brethren, believe not in faith, but in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 For if a man come into your assembly wearing a gold ring and a beautiful robe, and a poor man in a dirty robe,
3 And take heed to him that is clothed with fine linen, and say unto him, Come and sit down in a good place; and say to the poor man, Stand here, or sit by my footstool.
4 Have ye not then judged among yourselves, and become judges of evil thoughts?
5 Behold, my beloved brethren, hath not God chosen the poor of the world to be rich in faith, and to be rulers of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
6 But you insulted that poor man! Don't the rich oppress you? And don't they drag you to the courts themselves?
7 Do not the rich men blaspheme the great name by which ye are known?
8 But if you keep the royal commandment, as it is written, You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you are doing well.
9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
10 If anyone obeys the law but forgets one thing, he is guilty of all things.
11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. So if you have not committed adultery but have committed murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
12 Speak and act like those who are to be judged according to the law of liberty.
13 For he that hath not mercy shall be judged without mercy. Mercy triumphs over justice.
Beliefs and practices
14 My brethren, what good is it if someone says he has faith but does not practice it? Can this faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister is short of food and bread.
16 And one of you say unto them, Go in peace. Stay warm and satisfied, but what good is it if you don't give them what they need?
17 In the same way, faith without works is dead in itself.
18 But if anyone says that you have faith and I have deeds, Show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
19 You believe that there is only one God. You heal it, even the demons believe and tremble.
20 But you, worthless man, do you not know that faith without works is worthless?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 You see that faith is multiplied by works, and faith is made perfect by works.
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 You see that a person is justified not only by faith but also by works.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had brought her hides into her house, and sent them away another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

10 अगर कोई कानून का पालन करता है, लेकिन एक बात भूल जाता है, तो वह सभी चीजों का दोषी है।
11 क्योंकि उस ने कहा, व्यभिचार मत करो, यह भी कहा, मत मारो। इसलिए अगर आपने व्यभिचार नहीं किया है, लेकिन हत्या की है, तो आप कानून के एक अपराधी बन गए हैं।
12 बोलो और उन लोगों की तरह काम करो, जिन्हें स्वतंत्रता के कानून के अनुसार न्याय करना है।
13 क्योंकि वह दया नहीं करता, बिना दया के न्याय किया जाएगा। दया न्याय पर विजय पाती है।
विश्वास और व्यवहार
14 मेरे भाई, अगर कोई कहता है कि उसे विश्वास है तो अच्छा है, लेकिन यह अभ्यास नहीं करता है? क्या यह विश्वास उसे बचा सकता है?
15 अगर भाई या बहन को भोजन और रोटी की कमी है।
16 और तुम में से एक उनसे कहता है, शांति से जाओ। गर्म और संतुष्ट रहें, लेकिन क्या अच्छा है यदि आप उन्हें वह नहीं देते हैं जिसकी उन्हें आवश्यकता है?
17 इसी तरह, बिना काम के विश्वास अपने आप में मर जाता है।
18 लेकिन अगर कोई कहे कि आपको विश्वास है और मेरे पास काम हैं, बिना काम के मुझे अपना विश्वास दिखाओ, और मैं अपने कामों से तुम्हें अपना विश्वास दिखाऊंगा।
19 आप मानते हैं कि केवल एक ईश्वर है। आप इसे ठीक करते हैं, यहां तक कि राक्षस भी विश्वास करते हैं और कांपते हैं।
20 लेकिन तुम बेकार आदमी हो, क्या तुम नहीं जानते कि काम के बिना विश्वास बेकार है?
21 क्या अब्राहम हमारे पिता के कामों से न्यायसंगत नहीं था जब उसने इसहाक को अपने पुत्र को वेदी पर चढ़ाया था?
22 आप देखते हैं कि विश्वास कामों से गुणा किया जाता है, और विश्वास कामों से परिपूर्ण होता है।
23 और शास्त्र पूरा हुआ कि कौन सा शाथ, अब्राहम भगवान को मानता है, और यह उसके लिए धार्मिकता के लिए लगाया गया था: और उसे भगवान का मित्र कहा जाता था।
24 आप देखते हैं कि किसी व्यक्ति को न केवल विश्वास से बल्कि कामों से भी न्यायसंगत ठहराया जाता है।
25 इसी तरह रहब भी काम के द्वारा उचित नहीं था, जब वह अपने घर में छिपी हुई थी, और उन्हें दूसरे रास्ते से भेज दिया था?
26 क्योंकि आत्मा के बिना शरीर मर चुका है, इसलिए बिना काम के विश्वास भी मर चुका है।
