Description of man's becoming a sinner
1 And the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Well, God hath said, Thou shalt not eat of any tree of the garden.
2 And she said unto the serpent, We may eat of all the trees of the garden
3 But the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden God hath said, Thou shalt not eat it, neither shalt thou touch it, lest thou die.
4 But the serpent said unto her, Thou shalt not die.
5 But God knoweth that the day ye eat of that fruit your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, discerned between right and wrong.
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and that the fruit of the tree was worthy of wisdom, she took its fruit and ate it herself and gave it to her husband. Ate
7 And their eyes were opened, and they knew that we were naked: and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves garments.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the evening. The man and his wife hid themselves before the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I was afraid when I heard thy voice in the garden: for I was naked, and hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou art naked? The tree from which I commanded you not to eat its fruit. Have you eaten its fruit?
12 And Adam answered and said, The woman whom thou gavest me hath given me of the fruit of the tree, and I have eaten.
13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate the fruit."
God's justice
14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all the beasts of the field. You will carry the weight of your stomach and you will eat dust all your life.
15 I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; He will strike your head and you will bruise his heel.
16 He said to the woman, "I will greatly increase the pain of your womb." With pain you will give birth to children and your husband will want you and he will rule over you.
17 And he said unto Adam, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the fruit of the tree which I commanded thee not to eat, therefore the land is cursed for thee. You will eat its fruit with sorrow all your life.
18 She will bring forth thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the greens of the field.
19 Thou shalt eat bread with the sweat of thy brow, until thou be found in the dust: for thou wast taken out of it. You are dust and will return to dust.
20 Adam named his wife Eve because she was the mother of all living things.
21 Jehovah God made leather garments for Adam and his wife and put them on.
Get out of the garden
22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us in the understanding of good and evil: and let him not stretch forth his hand, and eat of the tree of life, and live for ever.
23 So the Lord God drove him out of the garden of Eden to cultivate the land from which it was created.
24 And he cast out Adam, and set the angels on the east side of the garden of Eden, and the sword of fire round about, to keep them in the way of the tree of life.
मनुष्य के पापी बनने का वर्णन

ईश्वर का न्याय
14 और यहोवा परमेश्वर ने सर्प से कहा, क्योंकि तू ने ऐसा किया है, तू ने मैदान के सभी जानवरों के ऊपर श्राप दिया है। आप अपने पेट का भार ढोएंगे और आप जीवन भर धूल खाएंगे।
15 मैं तुम्हारे और स्त्री के बीच और तुम्हारे बीज और उसके बीज के बीच शत्रुता रखूंगा; वह आपके सिर पर प्रहार करेगा और आप उसकी एड़ी को काटेंगे।

18 वह तुम्हारे लिए काँटे और तख्त लेकर आएगा, और तुम खेत का साग खाओगे।
19 तू अपने माथे के पसीने से रोटी खाएगा, जब तक तू धूल में न मिल जाए: क्योंकि तू उस में से निकला है। तुम धूल हो और धूल में लौट जाओगे।

22 और यहोवा परमेश्वर ने कहा, देखो, मनुष्य अच्छे और बुरे की समझ में हम में से एक बन गया है: और उसे अपने हाथ आगे नहीं बढ़ाओ, और जीवन के पेड़ को खाओ, और हमेशा के लिए जीवित रहो।
23 इसलिए यहोवा परमेश्वर ने उसे अदन के बाग से निकाल दिया, जहाँ से वह ज़मीन तैयार की गई थी।
24 और उसने आदम को बाहर निकाला, और जीवन के वृक्ष की राह की रक्षा करने के लिए, अदन के बाग के आगे स्वर्गदूतों और आग की तलवार को आग लगा दी।
