Joshua's elect
1 Moses went and told these things to all Israel
2 And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no longer go in or out, and the Lord has told me that you will not cross this Jordan.
3 The Lord your God will go before you, and he will destroy these nations before you, and you will possess them. Joshua will cross before you, just as the Lord has said.
4 The Lord will do to them as he did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, which he destroyed.
5 And when the LORD shall smite them before thee, then thou shalt do unto them according to all that I have commanded thee.
6 Be strong, be of good courage, fear not, neither be dismayed: for the LORD your God goeth with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. ”
7 And Moses, seeing all Israel, called for Joshua, and said, Be of good courage, and be strong; for thou shalt go with this people unto the land which the LORD sware unto their fathers to give them; Will make the country official.
8 The Lord himself will go before you. He will be with you, he will not leave you nor forsake you. So don't be afraid or panic! ”
The reading of the law every seventh year
9 And Moses wrote this law, and gave it unto the Levitical priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to all the elders of Israel.
10 And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of the seven years, at the feast of tabernacles, at the appointed time of redemption:
11 And when all Israel come, before the LORD your God in the place which he shall choose, then read this law before all Israel.
12 Gather all the people, men and women, children and strangers, who are at your gates, to hear and to learn, and to fear the Lord your God, and to observe all the words of this law.
13 And let their children, which have not heard, hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
Moses and Joshua to be called by God
14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Look, the days of your death are drawing near. Call Joshua, and be present in the tent of meeting, that I may command him. ” Then Moses and Joshua presented themselves in the Meeting Tent.
15 And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle by a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood at the door of the tabernacle.
16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt die, and be gathered unto thy fathers: and this people shall rise up, and pursue after the gods of the land, whither they go, to commit fornication. Will break the covenant that I made with them.
17 At that time my anger will be kindled against them. I will forsake them and hide my face from them, and they will be swallowed up, and many evil and calamities will come upon them, until they will say on that day, Is not our God among us? '
18 At that time I will also hide my face from all the evil things they will do to other gods.
19 Now therefore write this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Israel, that it may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.
20 And when I have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers to give them, where milk and honey flow, and they shall eat and be full, and they shall be fat, then they shall return to other gods. Will worship and forsake me and break my covenant.
21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and calamities shall come upon them, that this song shall be a witness unto them; for their offspring shall never forget it. For I know not what they do, until I have delivered them into the land which I sware to give them.
22 And Moses wrote this song in the same day, and taught the children of Israel.
23 And he commanded Joshua the son of Nun, saying, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them, and I will be with thee.
24 When Moses wrote all the words of this law in the book,
25 And Moses commanded the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,
26 Take this book of the law, and set it aside on the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may testify against you there.
27 For I know thy stiffness, and thy stiff neck. Behold, to this day, while I am alive and with you, ye rebel against the LORD: how much more shall ye do after my death?
28 Gather unto me all the elders and chiefs of your tribes, that I may put these words in their ears, and make heaven and earth a witness against them,
29 For I know that after my death ye shall utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I commanded you: and in the last days evil shall come upon you, because ye shall do that which the LORD hath done. Is evil in his sight, and you will provoke him to anger with the works of your hands. ”
30 And Moses put the words of this song in the ears of all the congregation of Israel from beginning to end.
