Cain and Abel
1 And Adam took his wife Eve, and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have received a man from the LORD.
2 And she bare him Abel his brother, and Abel the shepherd of the flocks, and Cain the farmer.
3 And it came to pass after these things, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
4 And Abel brought the firstfruits of the flock, and of the fat thereof: and the LORD pleased Abel and his offering.
5 But Cain and his offering did not please, so Cain became very angry and his face became sad.
6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? And why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If you do not do good, your gift will not be accepted. But if you do not do good, sin lies in wait at the door and lusts after you, but you prevail over it.
8 Then Cain said to Abel his brother, and while they were in the field, Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? He said, I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?
10 And he said, What hast thou done? Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.
11 So now you are cursed from the ground, who has opened his mouth to take your brother's blood from your hand.
12 When you plow the land, it will not give you its full harvest. You will be a fugitive and a wanderer on earth.
13 Cain said to the Lord, My punishment is unbearable.
14 Behold, thou hast cast me off from this land this day, and I will hide myself from thee: I will be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth: and he that findeth me shall kill me.
15 And the LORD said unto him, Whosoever smiteth Cain shall receive seven times as much. And the LORD set a sign for Cain, lest any man should find him and slay him.
Descendants of Cain
16 So Cain departed from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nodab, east of Eden.
17 And Cain went in unto his wife, and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he made a city, and called his name Enoch.
18 Enoch became the father of Irad, Irad became the father of Mahuael, Mahuael became the father of Methuselah, and Methuselah became the father of Lamech.
19 Lamech had two wives, one named Adah and the other Zillah.
20 Adah gave birth to Jabal. He was the father of those who lived in tents and raised animals.
21 And his brother's name was Jubal. He was the father of all those who played the harp and the bean.
22 The district also gave birth to Tubal Cain. He was the sharpener of every iron and brass cutter, and Namah was the sister of Tubal Cain.
23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hearken unto me, ye wives of Lamech; I am a man who has hurt me and a young man who has killed me.
24 If Cain's revenge is seven times, Lamech's will be seventy times.
Seth and Anosh
25 And Adam went in unto his wife, and she bare a son: and he called his name Seth: for God gave me another son instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
26 And Seth also begat a son, and called his name Enosh. From then on, people started calling on the name of Jehovah.

6 और यहोवा ने कैन से कहा, तू क्यों टूट रहा है?
7 यदि आप अच्छा नहीं करते हैं, तो आपका उपहार स्वीकार नहीं किया जाएगा। लेकिन यदि आप अच्छा नहीं करते हैं, तो पाप दरवाजे पर इंतजार करता है और आपके बाद वासना करता है, लेकिन आप उस पर हावी रहते हैं।
8 तब कैन ने अपने भाई हाबिल से कहा, और जब वे मैदान में थे, कैन ने हाबिल को उसके भाई के खिलाफ खड़ा कर दिया, और उसे सो गया।
9 यहोवा ने कैन से कहा, हाबिल तेरा भाई कहां है? उसने कहा, मैं नहीं जानता। क्या मैं अपने भाई का रखवाला हूँ?
10 उस ने कहा, तू ने क्या किया? तुम्हारे भाई का खून जमीन से निकल कर रोता है।
11 इसलिए अब तुम जमीन से शापित हो गए हो, जिसने अपने भाई का खून तुम्हारे हाथ से लेने के लिए अपना मुँह खोल दिया है।
12 जब आप भूमि की जुताई करते हैं, तो यह आपको इसकी पूरी फसल नहीं देगी। आप एक भगोड़े और पृथ्वी पर एक पथिक होंगे।
13 कैन ने प्रभु से कहा, मेरी सजा असहनीय है।
14 देख, तू ने आज के दिन मुझे इस देश से निकाल दिया, और मैं तुझ से छिपूंगा;
15 और यहोवा ने उस से कहा, जो कोई कैन को सात बार प्राप्त करेगा, और यहोवा कैन के लिए एक संकेत निर्धारित करेगा, ऐसा न हो कि कोई भी आदमी उसे ढूंढे और उसे मार डाले।
कैन के वंशज
16 इसलिए कैन यहोवा की उपस्थिति से विदा हो गया, और अदन के पूर्व में नादाब की भूमि में रहने लगा।
17 और कैन अपनी पत्नी के पास गया, और उसने कल्पना की, और नंगे हनोक: और उसने एक शहर बनाया, और उसका नाम रोच रखा।
18 हनोक इराद का पिता बन गया, इराद महुआएल का पिता बन गया, महुआएल मतूशेलह का पिता बन गया, और मतूशेल लामेक का पिता बन गया।
19 लेमेक की दो पत्नियाँ थीं, एक का नाम अदाह और दूसरी ज़िल्लाह।
20 आदा ने जबल को जन्म दिया। वह उन लोगों का पिता था जो टेंट में रहते थे और जानवरों को पालते थे।
21 और उसके भाई का नाम जुबाल था। वह उन सभी का पिता था जिन्होंने वीणा और बीन बजाया था।
22 जिले ने भी ट्यूबल कैन को जन्म दिया। वह हर लोहे और पीतल के कटर का शार्पनर था और नमः ट्यूबल कैन की बहन थी।
23 और लेमेक ने अपनी पत्नियों, अदाह और जिलह, मुझ से कहा, हे लमेक की पत्नियों! मैं एक ऐसा व्यक्ति हूं जिसने मुझे चोट पहुंचाई है और एक युवा व्यक्ति जिसने मुझे मार डाला है।
24 अगर कैन का बदला सात बार है, तो लेमेक का सत्तर गुना होगा।
सेठ और अनोष
25 और आदम अपनी पत्नी के पास गया, और उसने एक पुत्र उत्पन्न किया: और उसने अपना नाम सेठ बताया, यह कहते हुए कि ईश्वर ने हाबिल के बदले मुझे एक और पुत्र दिया, जिसे कैन ने मार डाला।
26 तब सेठ ने भी एक पुत्र को जन्म दिया और उसका नाम एनोश रखा। तभी से लोग यहोवा के नाम से पुकारने लगे।
